- When I reflect on my journey up until this point, I feel proud of what I have accomplished. I also know that I would not be standing here today if it were not for the immense sacrifices of those who came before me. Just a few decades ago, my grandparents made the decision to bet everything on a better life in this country. They travelled from a small town in Sicily with little to nothing to their names. If it were not for that decision, I would not be here today.
- When I think of the women in my long Italian line, I can feel the incredible strength and courage they possessed. I think about them often as I forge a path for myself in medicine.
- My fun fact in an ice breaker circle is usually that I started college with the intention to become an Interior Designer. Clearly life had other plans. I give credit to life circumstances and being around the right crowd that ultimately led to my decision to pursue medicine. Twelve years later, I am grateful to be at this point on my journey.
- The way I saw healing changed forever after an experience with an acupuncturist that helped my mom when no one else could. It opened my eyes to the possibility of "getting better" outside of the constraints of our modern medical system. That one moment helped to inform the decision to become an Osteopathic Physician, pursue an Internal Medicine Residency and later an Integrative Medicine Fellowship. My education and training took me to many different places, meeting incredible people along the way.
- It all led me to this point of seeing my dream come to fruition. This practice is a work of love. The beginning of a vision of bringing whole person health to the people who need it most.
